Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Abstract submission is now closed.

Abstracts should be submitted online, between Friday, December 4, 2009 and Friday, March 19, 2010 6:00pm (Japan Time). Abstracts will be published in “ICS2010 Abstracts” and distributed to the participants at the symposium site. Please note that online submission will no longer be accepted after the deadline.

Texts should be saved in a Microsoft Word file or PDF file, in one page. Please use a template provided.
 (Microsoft Office Word file)

A less than 2 MB file size is recommended. Your network gateway may have a limitation of an uploading file size.
Place the all figures/tables/photographs at the end of the text to prevent layout disorder when reviewing.
The space allocated for an abstract is limited to one page only. (Caution: Do not copy and paste objects directly from another program, which occasionally causes problems associated MS OLE in Windows operating systems and coding of Quick Time in Mac. You should always drag and drop a saved file into your abstract or alternatively use insert function of MS Word.)
Please note the Secretariat will not be responsible for mistakenly input content in your submission, so please check for mistakes before sending your abstract.
When providing the details of your abstract, you will be asked to choose the category that is most appropriate for your abstract. Please select an appropriate area for your presentation from the category list.
You can re-upload your abstract as many times as you want by the submission deadline (Friday, March 19, 2010). However, please note that at the last moment, there expected to be a flood of submission and there is a possibility that access to the system will be limited. We recommend that you revise your abstract earlier. If you wish to revise your abstract after the deadline, please contact ICS Secretariat.

Travel Grant Awards

Application is closed.

ICS2010 offers Travel Grant Awards to young participants from abroad who present high quality papers in the symposium. The grant, a maximum of 100,000 JPY, will be given to up to 20 awardees. Applicants should be either graduate students or post-doctoral research scholars under 36 years of age. The selections will be based on the abstracts submitted, but applicants from Asia and Oceania are particularly encouraged.

Those who wish to apply are requested to submit an abstract of their paper online by March 5, 2010 (JST). Please concomitantly express your willingness to participate in the symposium by sending an e-mail to the ICS2010 Secretariat with your CV and recommendation letter as attachments. The recommendation letter should be from your current or past research supervisor and should include an evaluation of the degree of your contribution to the work submitted.
